We believe that intelligence is multi-faceted, and children learn in different ways; our curriculum supports this. Children’s learning is the central purpose of everything we do at Tower Hill School. Helping children learn – academically, socially, spiritually, emotionally, and physically – is the real purpose of our school. Learning is planned to be active, in the sense that children must engage with their own learning. For primary children, this means that learning should be relevant to the future world they will be living in and is placed in a context that is meaningful to their present lives. To achieve this we want our children to experience real learning experiences from outdoor education through Forest School to trips outside of the school environment.

Children are beginning to share responsibility for their learning with their teachers, parents and carers. Learning is constructed in such a way that, by the end of the primary years, children see and experience the potential for taking responsibility for their own learning. Tower Hill School is working hard to develop a curriculum that reflects the needs of its children and has had a fundamental impact on the teaching and learning taking place in school.
