Hello and welcome to Year 3!
We greatly enjoyed our first half term this year and as you can see from the topic web above, we have been really busy! Our highlights have been reading 'Supertato' and creating our own veg-based super heros and villains. There were some amazing stories written about them and it fuelled the children's excitement for the 'heroes' topic. We learned all about growth mindset and how important it is to be successful. We have learned all about Bramley apples for Harvest and really enjoyed presenting our stories, facts, arts and crafts and talking about our taste testing lesson to the rest of the school and to the parents at the Harvest Festival. We have just finished the first half of 'Kid Normal,' our class novel and we have really enjoyed getting to know the characters and we are excited about what will happen next in the story.
Looking forward to the next half term we will be continuing with daily Fresh Start (Spellings, punctuation, grammar and comprehension lessons,) English, Maths, Phonics (Read, Write Ink) and reading lessons. Here are a few of the other things we will be doing this, exciting, half term ...
We will be continuing with our class novel of 'Kid Normal' and finding out all about what the dastardly Nektar has planned for our hero Murph.
We will continue learning French on a Monday afternoon, developing children's confidence in a new language and encouraging them to use their new vocabulary throughout the week especially when answering the register, "Bonjour, Ca Va?"
We are continuing to learn about forces in Science and will be looking at friction and the power of magnets this half term. which will include some exciting experiments!
In PE, as well as the class' lessons with Mr Graham, we will be learning all about gymnastics on a Tuesday afternoon.
in RE, With Mrs Hervin, the children will be learning all about pilgrimages in several different religions.
We will also, be making our own mindfulness bottles, as part of our Values and Philosophy for Children lessons.
Looking forward to an exciting new half term with such a lovely class.
Ms Phoenix and Mrs Brackley.
